Jim Standen
Anyone see Jim Standen being interviewed on NBCSN this morning?
Forgot that in 1964 Jim was a cup winner and a county championship cricket winner with Warwickshire.
Bought from Luton town in 1962, an underrated goalie for us from 1962 to 1967.

Re: Jim Standen
My first football hero (well, Lawrie Leslie was my first but I was fickle). I was an 11 year old goalie at the time. My favourite memory is of Jim being applauded off the pitch by both sets of players after keeping Liverpool (I think) out almost single handed. I’d begun to think I’d imagined it until I found someone else with the same memory.

Although I'm no fan of cricket, I acknowledge West Ham have had quite a few cricketters in their history.

Even our illustrious founder, Arnold Hill, dabbled, as well as playing football and being a distance runner.

I saw Jim Standen play cricket in Valentines park. They had the FA Cup on display so it must have been summer 1964.

Re: Jim Standen
Was in his sons year at school . He put the interview up on FB . Nick, his son , was a great centre forward in the school team . Goes without saying he is a keen West Ham fan .

Great keeper, was Jim. I played cricket against him twice, though it wasn’t a pleasure to be clean bowled.

Good keeper was Jim two cup medals 1964/65 and was proud to be his paper boy when he lived in Talbot Gardens Seven Kings.
Glad he's still bating at 85.
